Do all links stay intact with domain mapping?

    Hello
I read through the domain mapping information but I want to know if the
links that are out there in the world to my current blog will be redirected.

Or is this a different service?

I have a domain name and registration already. But before I do the switch,
I want to better understand what happens to the URLs of posts and people
who have bookmarked or subscribed and all that.

    Thank you,
    Jane

The blog I need help with is janepell.wordpress.com.

All the old WordPress.com links work and then new Whatever.com links work as well. For awhile your whatever.wp.com address will outrank your whatever.com address, but that normally rights itself within about four months of making the switch as more people link to the new address rather than the old one.

The unique URL for the media files remains whatever.wordpress.com though. That never changes.

Okay, I think this makes sense.

Thanks. I wasn’t sure if there was a separate re-directing service I needed to buy.

    It sounds like I don’t.

No, definitely not. One click does it. Well, two: buy the domain, map the domain.
