Do I need to purchase second domain mapping to map subdomain?

    I have an existing domain through another provider, I purchased a WordPress domain mapping upgrade so that visitors to will be pointed to I updated the custom DNS records in WordPress, and the new mapping works. Now, I want visitors who type in ‘’ to go to Currently, the blog sub domain goes to the main static page. I want it to go to /blog. QUESTIONS: 1) Do I need to purchase a separate domain mapping upgrade for the blog sub domain? 2) Is this something I can do for free either in the DNS records, or the third-party domain registrar DNS records?

    Hi there – the simplest way to accomplish this might be without modifying your DNS records, but to instead just to set your site to display your latest posts on the homepage.

    You could do that by going under Settings > Reading, and selecting “Your latest posts” next to “Front page displays” – as you see in this screenshot:

    Would you like to try that and see if it accomplishes your goal? It’s something you could easily reset back to how it was before if you don’t like it.

    kathrynwp, thanks for your reply. Your solution would work but I want to keep the front page static.

    I haven’t found any documentation on WordPress about how to map subdomains to specific pages within the site except for the home page.
