Hi! I’m just a member as well, so someone else may have more information about this. But my understanding is that with your free site, you can add links to video and audio from various sites (i.e. YouTube. But to add mp3 files, you would need to upgrade to Premium.

Here’s a link to the info about how to add videos from sites like YouTube and Vimeo (on a free site):
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/

And here’s some information about using a widget to add video to an RSS feed (although I think this requires Premium).
    /en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-links-widget/

I hope that helps! If I find more information I’ll come back and add to this. Thanks!

    Hi there,

I don’t understand what you mean. WordPress.com sites don’t have a feed for files. Your site has various feeds for posts and a feed for comments only.

If you want MP3 files to play on your site you can embed a playlist, but you’ll need at least the Personal Plan to upload MP3 files to the media library.

Thank you very much for your replies, and I’m sorry if I’m not using the correct terminology to say what I mean. I am trying to get an audio file or mp3 into my new RSS feed as a ‘news feed’. Apparently there’s a work-around by uploaded the mp3 to Soundcloud or something but I’m so new to all of this I’m having trouble finding instructions on how to do it. The site I’m working on is digitallycreativesite.wordpress.com
Again, thank you very much for your time.

I am trying to get an audio file or mp3 into my new RSS feed as a ‘news feed’.

There isn’t any feeds for files on WordPress.com. You need to create a new post instead, and embed the file into the post, via SoundCloud if you have a free site, or by uploading it directly on a paid plan. Then you’ll use the RSS feed for your posts, or for a particular tag or category. You can see our Podcasting support doc for more details – the info is relevant even if you’re not using this for an actual podcast:

Thank you Kokkieh that is very helpful. It is supposed to be a podcast, that is what I’ve been asked to do.

Then the instructions at that link is exactly what you need :)

Please let me know if you need any more help with this.
