Domain & Email Issues

    I purchased a domain through the website and set-up the nameservers to point across to WordPress.

    However doing so has meant that my mailbox hosted by has ceased working. I asked them for the answer on how to solve this and received this response:

    Any domain can only be administrated by the company that holds its nameservers.

    Since you switched the nameservers to WordPress, you can only do any DNS /MX change from their control panel.

    Please login in the WordPress control panel and set their 123-reg MX settings so that the e-mail could work: and

    Can you tell me how to do this on my WordPress dashboard?

    The blog I need help with is





    Basically you need to go into dashboard Settings->Domains then “Edit DNS”.

    You need to add

    MX 1
    MX 5

    note the dot at the end of the line.

    Having done that it can take up to 72 hours for the domain name change to propagate across the internet, so email might not work for a while.

    You might also want to add an SPF record to help people receiving emails from you validate that they are not spoof records. will tell you if you can do this, and if so what to set. This is not necessary for email to work though, its just icing on the cake.
