Domain Expired

  1. So for the last two years, I've had a blog which I paid to transfer the domain from to just

I knew that this upgrade was to expire today (1/28/11) and I let it do so on purpose b/c in a few days I'll be launching a new blog on and I'll be using the "" domain for that.

I had thought that if I just let it expire, the blog would just revert to

But when I woke up today I can't locate my blog anymore. I can get to my dashboard, but when I try to click on anything - even to upgrade the domain - it doesn't let me do it.

Is there any way to resurrect for the next few days until I get the new blog up and rolling?

    thanks so much

The blog I need help with is

  2. Your blog is still there and currently reachable as or (which redirects to the domain name)

Please note if you let your domain name expire then you will not be able to register it with someone else straight away so if you want to keep your domain name but use it for a install you should renew it anyway and then you can change the configuration once you have the new site setup to point the domain at the new site.

Once a Domain registration expires it goes into Redemption and will cost more than normal to renew.

If you have any questions about this you should contact support -

  3. Thanks westi.

    1. But I'm still not reaching it. i get the following msg which really worries me:

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    What does this mean?

2.Just to be clear, I didn't let the domain name expire...that was renewed...just the upgrade that allowed me to point to I thought that wouldn't be a problem, which is why I'm worried.

Let me know if I'm thinking incorrectly about this. (Did email support about this today)

    thanks again for your input

  4. Loads fine for me

  5. Yeah my husband just said that he loaded it on his computer. Maybe it's a computer problem?

Regardless, I'm still wondering if I need to do something regarding the upgrade. As I noted, i was just going to let it peacefully expire today and let the blog be called for the next few days. Is that OK?

    thanks everybody

  6. Update: when i went to write a new post on my husband's computer, I was finally redirected to the domain page (something I've been trying to do all morning.) I was able to indicate that I want my primary domain on this blog to henceforth be:

But now when I go back to blog on it, it just keeps redirecting me to this page.

Have I done something wrong or is there just a lag before this takes effect?

  7. @delialloyd: Sorry regarding the domain name - I now see you had it registered elsewhere all along.

The primary domain is configured correctly and loads fine for me at:

If you are still having issues please try clearing your browser cache and cookies:

  8. Thanks Westi but now the problem is as I describe it above-=every time I try to do something on the blog, it keeps taking me to the "domain" page and I keep telling it to make the tag the default but it won't let me leave. is that normal?

    ps already did the latter.

  9. Letting a domain name expire that you want to use is a very bad idea - there is a whole industry of cyber squatters that specialize in buying up domains that expire and then selling it back to you at a very expensive price - I have a friend that is going through that and the lawyer fees to get their domain back that their host messed up and let expire - it is ugly and in the mean time they don't have the use of their trademarked domain name. This has been going on for several months.

  10. thx auxclass but as noted above, I did not let it expire. I still own it, I'm just using it on another blog. really need help withthe other problem tho!

  11. @delia
Which browser and version of it are you using please?

Did you log out of, force claer the browser cache and cookies, and then log in again or not? Please do that now.

Do you have another browser that you can try?

  12. I have the same problem, I've tried everything with different browsers, I can't post !!I keep getting redirected to "domains" upgrade page, even though my primary domain is still good

  15. how do I get my site back up, it said my domain expired!

  16. ondafly
Please post the URL for the blog in question. Is there a link in the announcement in your dashboard? If so please click it and use it. To renew your domain mapping for you need to click on the 'renew' link.

  17. OOPS! Please ignore this part "" above. I copied and pasted and included it by mistake. The rest of what I said above is correct.
