Domain Mapping Help ASAP Please

  1. I have been using a WordPress Blog and linked it to my domain at

I now want to remove the domain from there and have my new Wix website land at

I have attempted to do this for two days. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated at this point.

The blog I need help with is

  2. The blog I need help with is NOT
    My domain address is

  3. If you’ve registered your domain through and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers.

  4. My domain name is registered through GoDaddy.

  5. If you registered your domain elsewhere, you can contact your registrar (GoDaddy) for more information about changing the name servers.

  6. I've done that, but with directing my new website to address, it is still connected (however it is, this is my issue) and I read that if I disconnect or delete it, the URL will always display an error.

I'm unsure if this error will appear if I do this - any advice is appreciated. :)

  7. This is a free hosted blog
There does not appear to be a domain mapping upgrade on it. In fact the blog is devoid of any blogger created content. What do you see here
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades
    and here
Dashboard > Store > Billing History

  8. I think I was accidentally signed up for a new wordpress blog when I tried to sign up for this forum. It has been continual reading, getting lost....

The domain I want to 're-use' is - I don't know how to find the original wordpress url for that site - do you?

  9. If I delete the wordpress blog that lands to, will I mess something up for the website I now have directed to

I am trying to avoid a conflict.

  10. If I delete the wordpress blog that lands to, will I mess something up

DON'T DELETE ANYTHING - yes you might mess things up badly

  11. LOL - I thought so.

  12. Everything is set up in Wix and GoDaddy - and both say it is ready to go. I have PUBLISHED the website but no show. Reading more, I learn of the conflict that may exist because WordPress is still landing to the same I correct in understanding this?

  13. In one of your other threads you asked this:

Does anyone know how I can find the original WordPress URL before I changed to the domain name?

How many usernames do you have?
How many blogs have your registered under them?

When you register a username account here all that's required is an email address, which becomes your unique identifier. If you are logged in and register a blog then it's registered under that unique identifier. You cannot access any blog unless you are logged in under the exact username account that registered the blog.

Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones:
If you do not see the blog here then
    follow this guide >

  14. the [email redacted] SHOULD be deleted, but as WordPress absolutely doesn't do this, there it sits. It was created less than an hour ago when I tried to sign up to the forum.

Your link to see my blogs (even the 'hidden ones' showed only that one - yet if you go to, there I am.

  15. No one has ever experienced this?
    I have searched the forum.....

I just called GoDaddy - basically they tell me to get rid of the WordPress connection to the domain name if I want it to can someone tell me how to do THAT?!

    Thanks. :)

  16. My connection from GoDaddy to the new website is connection from WordPress to wherever is too......I can't have two sites with the same landing address.

  17. Only Staff can do this and the more you bump your thread the further away you are getting form gaining their help.

  18. I can't seem to do anything :)

  19. Subscribe to this thread so you are notified when Staff respond.

  20. You point your name servers for to your new host - that will break the connection to WordPress.COM - remember that it can take 24 to 72 hours for changes to reach the far corners of the internet and for visitors to be sent to your new web site - things will be erratic during the propagation time

  21. @auxclass
    Crazy making holiday it is.

  22. Thanks, auxclass - will wait to see if it transfers over within the 72 hours.

I was told that I had to somehow manually make certain that WordPress no longer pointed to this URL.

Thanks very much for your assistance. :)

  23. You be welcome & good luck

@TT - yes things are a bit nuts today - and the parking lots are jammed - why people move domains on the weekend and during holidays when the staff are on break is beyond me - but we have gotten a few people in the right direction today so all is not lost I guess

  24. @auxclass
When I posted my comment to that effect into another forum thread a short while ago, guess what? The thread was "closed". When I posted into a CSS thread the other day saying every Support Staff member has to have CSS editing skills to be hired and there is Staff support for that upgrade, guess what? My polite comment that did not violate the forum code of conduct and contained only truth was deleted. From here on out I'm going to ignore every domain mapping related thread.

  25. @shawncote
Don't get sidetracked away from what auxclass stated here

  26. Thanks, timethief. :)
