Domain mapping issues

I recently purchased the domain name thenewporker.com. I’m trying to map it to my blog thenewyoker.wordpress.com, but an error is occurring that states that thenewporker.com is already mapped to an existing blog. I have already pointed thenewporker.com to wordpress name servers but it just redirects to thenewporker.wordpress.com, which I don’t own.

    Please advise.

The blog I need help with is thenewyoker.wordpress.com.

Sounds like you need staff help – I have flagged this for the staff to help you

Yea, I’m pretty sure it’s a problem that wordpress staff could figure out.

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Pat,

It looks like the domain name thenewporker.com was last registered in March of 2010, but since expired. The mapping was still activated, so I have removed it.

It doesn’t look like you purchased the domain through WordPress.com, but you should be able to successfully map it now using these instructions:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Just let me know if you run into any problems!

    Thank you, zandyring!

I was able to pay the $13 and map thenewporker.com to thenewyoker.com on the 28th. However, as of right now, it still redirects thenewporker.com to thenewporker.wordpress.com.

I know wordpress states that it can take up to 72 hours for the system to map properly, so hopefully it’ll properly redirect soon.

    Hi Pat,

It looks like your domain is active and linking correctly to your site! You may need to clear your cache if you can’t see it yet. Here is more information about how to do that:

    Cheers!
