Domain Mapping not working
I have my domain jwhiteproperties.com hosted at godaddy and I just followed the instructions to change the nameservers there. I added the domain on my dashboard and now when I go to the site is just has a sample wordpress site, not my actual site.
I have my previous website hosted at godaddy.com. Should I delete this data? or does that not really make a difference?
The blog I need help with is jwhiteproperties.com.
I am in Canada and I am redirected to http://jwhiteproperties.com/
After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
Ok thanks! I’ll give it some time. =)
Is there anything else I need to do on GoDaddy with regards to my existing website? The data that is hosted on GoDaddy.com, does that need to be deleted? Now it is linking to an old website that is a subfolder of the old one…
I would back up all the files on the old site just in case. You can then delete the old content if you want – it does not really matter what is done since nobody can really get there unless they have the IP address and such (and even that does not work sometimes since static IP addresses are going away)
You don’t need hosting at Godaddy anymore, but you do need to keep the domain name registered.
Do you have email on your /jwhiteproperties.com/ name?
If so you should be able to get a break on pricing for email only – see below on how to make the email work with a mapped domain name
