I am thinking of closing down my old CMS website and going with WordPress blog on WordPress.com. I am having problems with hacking of the old site via poorly coded plugins and modules, I wanted to find somewhere there is some sense of quality control.

    A couple questions:

I looked through support and couldn’t find anywhere where it said if I could transfer a domain name to WordPress from another registrar.

Secondly if I register my domain name through WordPress does that include mapping or do I have to pay the additional $13 to have the new blog mapped.

You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.

    This is an automated message.

No you can’t. See Transferring a Domain to WordPress.com

Registering a .com, .org, or .net domain through WordPress.com and mapping that domain to your blog starts at $18.00 per domain and per year, or $25.00 per domain and per year for a .me domain. For $8.00 more, you can also make the domain registration private.
Mapping a domain you already own costs $13.00 per domain, per year. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
