Domain renewal

  • Please help me renew my domain. I am not able to. I inadvertently let it expire. Is there a phone number to call for assistance?

    When a domain expires, it then goes through a process that can take several months to complete described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/.

    If you are in the grace period you will not have to agree to pay a redemption fee set by the domain name registrar that wordpress.COM staff cannot waive.

    Otherwise, if you want Staff to try to recover the domain for you then you will have to agree to pay the redemption fee.

    If you’re logged into the account that is associated with your expired domain, they will look up its status and get in touch with details.

    If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into the associated account, and provide the domain URL here.

    I can help get this straightened around.

    It looks like you’re needing assistance with joancollinslcsw.com, is that right?

    This domain was mapped to WordPress.com but not registered through us. It’s actually registered through Tucows Domains.

    Two things need to happen in order for this domain to load a WordPress.com site. First, the domain registration through Tucows needs to remain updated and renewed annually. The domain mapping through us also needs to be renewed annually.

    For now, I have restored the mapping portion which has your site back up and running. Can you let me know which plan you want to use? I’ll email you a manual payment link and add it as well to your account. Take a look at the options on https://wordpress.com/pricing/ Initially you purchased the premium plan. Cheers :)

    Actually you can just go to My Site ->Plans and buy a new Premium Plan from there – no need for a payment link in this case. It will automatically be linked to the domain mapping upgrade that Liz added back for you, so then you just need to make sure the domain is renewed on Tucows’s end.

    Thank you for responding. I need a bit more guidance. I don’t know what My Site is or how to find it. That goes for Tucow’s as well. I don’t recall it being so complicated; renewing my subscription. Look forward to more help. Thank you.

  • If you go to WordPress.com, My Site is in the top-left corner of the screen. If you’re reading this reply in the forum, rather than in your email, you’ll also see it top-left. Click on that to get taken to your dashboard, and then click on Plans.

  • Tucows.com is your domain provider, i.e. where you bought your domain, joancollinslcsw.com. The domain is only connected here via the domain mapping upgrade, and that’s what expired. You’ve now added the domain mapping back, so the domain is connected here again.

    To renew the domain itself you need to do it at Tucows’s end, but it looks like your domain is good with them until July next year. Check directly with them if you want to make sure, though.
