I own a domain at Blog.com I would like to delete my account at Blog.com and use that domain over here at WordPress. I have changed the nameservers as suggested. Is it possible to use my margber.com domain that I purchased at Blog.com….on my wordpress blog?
The blog I need help with is margber.wordpress.com.
Is this not related to what’s in this thread? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/likes-10?replies=23#post-1206127
As Staff (macmanx) said there:
You did have margber.com mapped to your blog, but you canceled that today.
You can re-map it following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Yes it is, Timethief. I have since learned how to change the nameservers and have done so. Im just not sure If I am clear about what mapping is. Does that mean that If I delete my account at Blog.com and go to store and then domains….I can press use Margber.com as main blog and then that domain will work over here?
Sorry, I am new and still trying to sort all of this out. I think I am getting the hang of it. I appreciate any help you can give me.
oh…you’re quick. :) ok…I will try that again. Thank you.
I delelted it because It kept directing me back to that old Blog.com address when I mapped it. I am probably doing something wrong. I will try again.
After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. Seeing the switching back and forth during that time frame is common. It’s also common for your ISP to be the last one to flush their DNS caches. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/
What’s important during that stage is to do nothing and be patient.
By doing the “set up”….do you mean pressing the link on the domain page to switch and use margber as my primary domain? My nameservers have been switched wordpress. And also, since I have the $99 bundle upgrade, do I still need to purchase the mapping?
So sorry for all the questions.
I will sit tight and be patient.
I’m bailing out of this thread and tagging it for Staff assistance. Please be patient while waiting for them to respond.
I cleared my cache. That did the trick. Thank you so much for your help!!
