Download file and data from wordpress

  1. I have to download all content on my blog and migrate to wordpress hosted by Godaddy. I exported the content but all are XML files, where as I need .php file to upload or stpf server details.

The blog I need help with is mysimplesojourn.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there,

Here's a comprehensive guide on how to transfer all the contents of your blog for WordPress.com to another hosting provider:
    https://move.wordpress.com/

Let me know if you need more help with that.

  3. I want to do it myself, not through guided (Paid) process.
Please help me with it, how I can download myself.
    Thanks.

  4. It's described in the guide I already gave you. Here's a link to the section about exporting your content:
    https://move.wordpress.com/exportimport-content/

  5. If I change from free plan to personal plan of (2.99Usd) and want to transfer this blog to my own domain (Already registered with another company Godaddy).
Please help me and advise -
    1. If all my posts, likes, comments and followers will automatically transfer to my domain.com?
    2. do I get FTP access of our website/data
    3. do I get permission to upload or install our plugins
    4. do I get access of our site database i.e MySQL
Thanks in advance for your help.

  6. If you want to transfer away from WordPress.com there's no need to upgrade to any plan.

    1. All your content and followers will be transferred over to your new site. Not automatically, you have to do it yourself by following these instructions:
    https://move.wordpress.com/

    2. You can have FTP access but you have to check this out with GoDaddy.

    3. You will be able to use any plugin.

    4. You'll have access to the database, but double check with GoDaddy to make sure.

Again, everything you need about moving from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress (on GoDaddy in this case) is covered in this detailed guide:
    https://move.wordpress.com/

  7. No.
If instead of hosting from Godaddy, I choose to remain with WordPress and buy personal plan of 2.99usd. Then can I have all the above (mentioned in my last msg).

  8. No. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/.

There is no FTP access to wordpress.com blogs and no blogger installed plugin capability. Those exist only on wordpress.ORG software installs and no upgrade alters that reality. WordPress.COM hosted sites have some built in plugins.

    No FTP access http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    No blogger installed plugins http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/

If you require plugins see: Moving to Self-Hosted WordPress http://move.wordpress.com
