I am currently setting up a WordPress site for a duathlon series. This is one of my required tasks at my internship at a parks and recreation department. Unfortunately I have little experience in downloading and working with web content management systems, so I need a bit of help with the installation process. Here is a brief rundown of my situation:
-My supervisor told me that she wants to use WordPress.org, because apparently she already pays for a host for the duathlon’s current website.
-I was intending to download WordPress.org to my personal computer, which I use at work. I use Mac OS X version 10.5.8. The computers here at the office all run on an older version of Windows I believe. Is there any way I can work on the website from my own computer by using the domain that they pay for?
-Another issue might be that I already have a personal account on WordPress.com for my own blog. Will that interfere with the downloading process?
Thank you for your time.

log out of your WordPress.com account. On the top right hand corner of this page http://wordpress.org/support/ register a username account and there will be no confusion. When you are working with the install then log in using your new WordPress.org username account.
