Drafts – published date prlem

Hi, when I write a draft post and then publish it at a later date, it keeps the original date and shows as being an earlier post than any I have posted between the date of drafting and the date of publishing. For example I drafted this post http://janessewandtell.wordpress.com/2012/08/25/a-dress-for-a-9-year-old/ on the 25th but published it today (28th) and now it is showing behind the post I published yesterday.
The forum has a similar question from 2011 but it is unclear what the resolution was on that question as some people seem to have experienced the problem and others not.
    Thanks for your help

The blog I need help with is janessewandtell.wordpress.com.

I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Did you publish the post using Quick Edit in Posts -> All Posts, or from the Edit Post screen?

I drafted the original post using the iPad app. It was then edited on my laptop using the wordpress web site. I then published it from the editing screen (I.e.not using quick edit)
    Hope this helps,

    Hi Jane!

Thanks for replying with the exact steps you took. While I personally don’t have an iPad, I’ll test this in the WordPress iOS app on my iPhone to see if I can reproduce this.

I was able to reproduce exactly what you’ve mentioned, so I did some searching in the WordPress for iOS Trac and found that this is a known bug.

    I’m sorry for the inconvenience!

For posterity, here’s the Trac ticket: #826 — Post Date hard set on server when saving a Draft

In the meantime, my best suggestion when updating a post in the dashboard editor is to make sure to change the “Published on” time and date in the Publish module before publishing the post, a la “scheduling a post“.

Let me know if you have any other questions. :-)

Many thanks for looking into this for me. I’ll follow your advice

    You’re welcome!
