drop-down/subcategories on menu

  • I would like to add some drop downs to my main menu. I watched the tutorial about customizing menus and followed all the instructions but it doesn’t seem to work. Do I have to have a particular theme that supports drop downs for this to work?

Basically I want to put “about me”, “about blog” etc… under the menu title “About”.

Could I please have some help?
    Thank you!

  • The thing most people miss is that after creating and saving the custom menu, they do not assign it to the primary location in the theme location module at upper left on the menus page. Did you select your custom menu from the pulldown there and then save?

  • Actually, forget that since you are using a theme without top navigation. To have top navigation, you will have to choose a theme that has it. Then you can use the custom menu at the top.

  • I’m using the Shelf theme and I am in love with it…however I do not understand how to get my once drop downs to show up under the assigned pages. Help!!!

  • You will have to go to appearance > custom menus and then in the “theme location” module at upper left, select your custom menu from the “primary location” pulldown.
