Dropdown for menu won't work on mobile

  1. Hi. I am using the Twenty Twelve theme. I have one menu (made up of categories as I wanted to assign certain posts to certain pages). However, on mobile, the Menu button is there, but the menu items (ie. my categories) won't show up. Nothing happens when I press Menu. They had previously, but I think it might have something to do with now using categories rather than pages in my menu.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

The blog I need help with is

  2. The mobile theme is a completely different theme. Twenty Twelve is a responsive layout theme. See here

Know that responsive width means the layout adapts depending on the size of the device being used to view your site. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.

The mobile theme is a completely different theme. When we use a responsive layout theme we go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme.

  3. Please read this first Post vs. Page

    (1) There is only one page we can post to in any blog.
    (2) The static pages we bloggers create do not automatically update.

Only the dynamic pages like Archives, Categories and Tags created by the software when we publish a post will update automatically update with new posts.

By default the front page of the blog is the Page that displays all posts in your blog. You can create a static front page and have your published posts display on another page but doing that does not change what follows.

Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

This guide will walk you through how to create category pages for your blog, to display groupings of similar posts on pages other than your front page.

    Create a custom menu
Add dynamic categories and sub-categories pages to it
    Create order and sub-menus (dropdowns)

Here's a link to my post on this

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well. Here is more information:

  4. Hi Timethief, thank you for your detailed response. I had already had my customs menus etc done but was still a nice bit of reading.

It was actually just the menu when viewing in mobile that wouldn't work. Nothing happened when I pressed it (when it had previously worked). I just needed to re-upload the header.php from the parent theme into the child theme and re-do the one minor change I had done and it's fixed.

    Thanks again.
