Edin Classic Menu not Appearing

I am currently using the Edin theme. I want to use the classic menu, rather than the default menu. When I select the classic option under theme options in Customize, however, nothing happens? Can anybody help?

The blog I need help with is wedgeusa.com.

Never mind, I figured it out.

I have the same problem as you. Can you tell me how you fixed it? When I clicked on the link you included, I still can’t see the menu (I only see the search icon in the header).

Also, how did you get the social media icons to appear at the very bottom of the page (on the same line as ‘this blog is Edin theme’.)?

    My blog site is linhdu.ca.

    Thanks.

You can do this by removing all but the footer menu at Customize > Menus. The primary and secondary menus display in the header area, above the feature image on a page with a feature image, or above the title of post or a page w/o a feature image.

Also, how did you get the social media icons to appear at the very bottom of the page (on the same line as ‘this blog is Edin theme’.)?

How to do that is explained in the WP page on the Edin theme, in the section titled “Social Icons.” From that page:

Edin allows you to display links to your social media profiles — like Twitter and Facebook — as icons using a Custom Menu…To automatically apply icons to your links, simply create a new Custom Menu and give it a name that starts with “Social” (e.g. “Social Menu,” “Social Links”). This specific name is important and must match exactly. Next, add each of your social links to this menu. Each menu item should be added as a custom link.

Once your menu is created and your social links are added, you can display it in your Secondary or Footer Menu.

After creating the empty menu, you add custom links, one by one, providing merely the destination URL and (optionally) a title. A small icon representing the social media site will display instead of the navigation label for each item.

I didn’t say that quite right. What I should have said was that the icon link representing the social media site will display instead of a text link for each item. Ordinarily the navigation label text is the text that will appear in the link produced by each item in a custom menu. In this case, the navigation label text does not appear in the link, being replaced by the icon link.

@yogilinh On some desktop computers, the Edin theme doesn’t display correctly. Try zooming out on your browser and your classic menu should appear.
As for the social links, do as @musicdoc1 told you.

    @ jaredgoodman,

I hadn’t thought of that. Actually on my PC one zoom click in revealed your three-bar header menu tab. Although I’m uncertain of what you mean by “classic menu.” The header menus (primary and secondary) also display in horizontal rows on my test website, whereas your single header menu displays in a vertical list. I tried various combinations of menus and modifications of one menu structure to see if I could get mine to display vertically, without success.

Under “Customize” the Edin Theme allows you to change certain theme options. Under these options, you can switch between the “Default” & “Classic” Menus. Mine is set to “Classic”. See image here: bit.ly/1AgExa6

@jaredgoodman thanks for the suggestion on zooming out, it worked! I never would have tried that.

@musicdoc1 thank you as well for the instructions on creating the social links menu, that worked too!

    You’re both life savers. :)

Using Edin theme, please could you help me – how do you change the font size?

    @jgoodden,

That requires Custom Design. Do you have that upgrade?

From the Customize area of the Edin theme:

With Custom Design, part of the Premium Plan, you can make your blog look and feel exactly the way you want…

Customize the fonts in your theme with ease, apply a custom color palette and background pattern, or dive into CSS to make all the presentational changes you desire.

Hi Musicdoc1, thank you – no I don’t have any upgrades, perhaps I should get them.

Hello everyone, I wonder if you came across my problem also. Self hosted Edin did not have the logo option so I installed jetpack and fixed that. But, the tagline still doesnt show although it is marked and all. It shows tho on the unicento.wordpress.com site. Any idea? Thanks x

@unicento I had a look at unicento.wordpress.com and unicento.com. They both appear to be displaying the logo without the tagline. Are you still having trouble with the tagline? If so, could you please take a screenshot of the settings under Customize > Site Title? Just let me know, and I’d be happy to take a look.
