Hey all! I am currently in the middle of installing Edin onto my blog. I have configured the front page as it appears in the demo. I have a static front page set, and like many other beginners, am having trouble with creating the three featured pages underneath the header.

I have seen that other have used Widgets> Front Page one/two/three, but only the options for sidebar and footers appear.

I have also tried theme Options> Front Page: Featured Page, but nothing appears when I select my pages (which have text in them). Changing the pages in Static Front Page> Posts page does not change anything for me either.

My blog is at swhtann.wordpress.com. Tank you!

The blog I need help with is swhtann.wordpress.com.

    Hi,

If you go to Customize > Theme Options you’ll see you can ‘name the pages’ you want to feature.. (also choose Static Page, and which one..)

Which page did you choose to be your static page?
You also have to use the ‘Front Page Template’ for it to work, so just go to ‘edit’ the desired page and choose the ‘style’, not forgetting to ‘update’ the page also.

@afreestyler Okay, so the problem is that I did not set that page to “Front Page Template”. However, my sidebar has now disappeared on the front page and the featured posts are lining up vertically instead of horizontally. Are both of these just due to the design of the theme?

Also, what exactly is/is the purpose of “Posts page”?

I think you are confusing ‘posts with pages’.. as far as I can see, you’ve created some pages and no posts.. (pages for example cannot have ‘categories and tags’ and show up in the wordpress reader ie: for people to find you. Here’s more on posts and pages in the support section.

Have a feeling that if you want your sidebar to still be there, you would have to choose ‘posts page’ instead of ‘static page’…

There’s more to read about the Edin Theme here. Always handy to check the info, also down the bottom it gives info on best size of images and much more.

Don’t forget you can use the ‘quick button link’ to your ‘blog posts’, as shown on the demo of Edin Theme, that would show up under your ‘title’ and on top of your picture… (I use the Edin theme here) Thought I’d share the link with you for reference.. With the ‘front page’ set to recent posts (once you start posting..) I’m sure you could have the sidebar, and I’m pretty sure it just shows an ‘excerpt’ of the post with ‘read more’…

swhtan – let us know if you’re all set after afreestyler’s guidance. If you still need any Edin setup help, just tell me what you’re having trouble with. Thanks!

Noticed she had changed to the Cerauno Theme. (perhaps it was mainly for her instagram widget to be displayed..) Anyway, hope all went ok for her too. Thanks Kathryn.
