Edit link settings on post
I am new to blogging. I recently published two posts with some links. But, I just realized I did not set them to open on a new tab. When I go back to edit those posts and click anywhere on the underlined text where the link was and then the link tab, it does not open. If I highlight the underlined text and then click on the link button, it opens the link page but my URL is not showing up. So do I have to re-enter my URL to that link AND then lick on open link in a new tab?
The blog I need help with is lifescienceexplore.wordpress.com.
Can you give us a direct link to a post with links you are having difficulty editing?
From searching, I just found someone wrote that you can set all links to open in a new window/tab by going to “Sharing” under “Settings”. I did that but when I click on links on my already posted posts, they still open on the same tab.
All I need to do is set them to open in a new window (which I forgot to check before) but when clicking the underlined text and then clicking on the link button it doesn’t open. If I highlight the text and then click, it does open but the already entered URL is not showing up.
For example, the post below has many links at the end in the references section but they all open on the same tab.
No, you can’t change links in a post under “Sharing->Settings”. That is only for social sharing buttons.
To edit the links in your post, go to the Visual editor. Put the cursor in the middle of a link, anywhere within the active portion of the link. Click. Then in the pop-up box you should be able to check the Open In New Window box.
Oh I see so changing the sharing settings is only for social sharing buttons.
When I click anywhere in the active link portion, the box doesn’t pop-up. But when I highlight the entire active portion of the text and then click on the link button, it appears.
Thanks a lot for answering my query.
