Edit option for viewers / file names showing
I have to questions:
When I go to my “Welcome” page there is a ling called “edit.” This brings one to the page where my blog can be edited. I would not want anyone but myself the ability to do this. How do I remove the option “edit for those visiting my page? I still want visitors the ability to post comments.
On my blog if you hover over the photos within the posts the file name appears. For example, for April 29 it is DSC_0013. When I click on the photo and it opens the blog post for April 29 and then click on the photo, only the title shows “Can It Happen?” I would prefer to always have the title show and not “DSC_0013.”
Thank you very much.
The blog I need help with is nancywolitzer.com.
The edit link is there for your convenience and is presented to you ONLY when you are logged in. Visitors to your site, even if they are logged into their wordpress account, will not see the edit link. Only you can.
The file name is appearing because that is what is entered into the “title” field when you inserted the image. You can edit what it says by opening the page or post in the editor, click on the image to highlight it and then click on the “edit image” icon change the title and then save and update the post. It is always a good idea to have a title and “alternate text” on images since the search engines will not index any image that does not have them, and for most people google image searches bring in a good number of visitors to their site.
Thanks for your reply.
I had already entered “Can It Happen?” in the title field and in the alternate title field. When I went to double-check this on the edit-image page, I see that in the LINK URL box the following link appears: http://nancywolitzer.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/dsc_00133.jpg
Could this be why the file name “DSC_0013” is showing? If so, what do I enter in the LINK URL box. I believe it was self-populated.
Thanks again for your assistance.
