Editing a Domain Name
I recently (on Monday) renewed my domain name. Currently it’s blog.——.ca I would like to change it to whatsnew.—–.ca
How would I go about this?
The blog I need help with is blog.voterview.ca.
One cannot just edit a domain name. You would have to cancel the first domain your purchased/renewed and ask for a refund. http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/#refunds You can request a refund yourself directly from the Store > My Upgrades section of your Dashboard, or contact Staff to request a refund. Then you will have to purchase the domain name you want (if you do not already own it) by going through the domain mapping process again. In order to map to an existing .ca domain Staff will have to provide you with a zone record.
You are mapping a sub-domain. Ask the staff if they will transfer your mapping to the new sub-domain name that you want to use. The instructions you followed the when you mapped the domain are below. The zone record should already have been added.
Thank you I will try that.
You all be welcome & good luck
I just wanted to clarify it is the sub domain that I want to change. We want to keep voterview.ca we would just like to change it from blog.voterview.ca to whatsnew.voterview.ca
If I needed to talk to someone at wordpress how would I do that. I sent an email on Monday but have not heard back.
The zone record should already have been added. Mapping a subdomain with the Domain Mapping Upgrade costs $12.00 per subdomain, per blog, per year. Have you tried these instructions?
Our IT dept did the zone record but the problem is I renewed the sub domain this week as blog.voterview.ca and we have decided we would actually like it to be called whatsnew.voterview.ca and that is what I can’t figure out, how to change the word blog to the word whatsnew short of paying for a new subdomain called whatsnew.voterview.ca
Thanks everyone. I ended up getting a refund for the renewal and then buying the new name and it works.
Thanks for all your help.
You be welcome
