Embedding DeviantART images

  1. For one, I love WordPress! Converted here a few years ago (first with my own web space and and you guys just keep getting better. I do have one suggestion, though. I just about live on, website-wise, at least. Would there be any way of allowing the DeviantART "embed" coding to work on blog entries? This is something I was surprised to see that worked on Livejournal and and doesn't on WordPress. I don't like the idea of hotlinking and try to avoid it at all costs, but that seems to be the only way to link directly to an image there without saving it and uploading it to my own gallery on and then putting it in my journal. It'd be really nice to take out all that extra. Thanks!

  2. Would there be any way of allowing the DeviantART "embed" coding to work on blog entries?

    Have you read this entry?

If the embed code is not an iframe or Javacript, and you can locate a Flash version of it then you can then put code in between backtick ( ` ) characters into this thread. Then one of our Volunteers can provide a gigya shortcode for you.

  3. Thank you! I'm pretty sure this is Flash, but not 100%. I would really appreciate that shortcode and basic instructions on how to use it!

    <object width="450" height="473"><param name="movie" value="" /><param name="flashvars" value="id=196601627&width=1337" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="450" flashvars="id=196601627&width=1337" height="473" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object><br /><a href="">Robin Hood sketch</a> by =<a class="u" href="">Ravenhart</a> on <a href="">deviant</a><a href="">ART</a>

  4. Since I didn't mention it before (and should have :P), it would be for more than one image. I tend to post my new images on my blog and would like to be able to for each new piece in a new entry.

  5. [gigya src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="450" flashvars="id=196601627&width=1337" height="473" allowscriptaccess="always"]

Just paste this code and you will have it.

  6. Yes it's flash, and the way you turn it into a WP-specific shortcode is shown here:

    In your case:

    [gigya src="" flashvars="id=196601627&width=1337" width="450" height="473" ]

  7. @sanjidas Thanks for the code... it kinda worked. I ended up with the right box, but where the art should be, there is a gray box saying "Deviation does not exist".

@panaghotisadam Thanks, but I just end up with that link showing up as text when I publish.

  8. @ravenea
I copied and pasted the code panos provided into a new post in the HTML editor and it's working fine on my test blog. Try it again and be sure you are using the HTML edior and not the Visual editor.

  9. @ravenea,
Both of the modified codes work and produce the exact result. Choose one of the modified codes and paste it using the HTML editor as per Timethief's suggestion.
