Embedding Google Maps does not appear to work.

It appears that the Google Maps shortcode conversion is not working with WordPress. I suspect it is because of the new Google Maps. Please advise how I embed a Google Map now. Specifically I am trying to embed a map of 3160 Park Ave, Bridgeport, CT.

The blog I need help with is salembridgeport.wordpress.com.

    Hi salembridgeport,

I was able to embed the Google Maps code using the address above as a test and it worked fine. I created a post and pasted the code into the Text Editor. Upon saving the post, the shortcode was generated. I even tried repasting the shortcode below into another post and it worked as well.

    [googlemaps https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=3160+Park+Ave,+Bridgeport,+CT&aq=&sll=41.833733,-87.731964&sspn=0.733639,1.454315&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=3160+Park+Ave,+Bridgeport,+Connecticut+06604&t=m&ll=41.199904,-73.220959&spn=0.019374,0.025749&z=14&iwloc=A&output=embed&w=300&h=300]

Thank you for your help. Are you using the new Google Maps? I tried to paste the iframe from the new Google maps, was able to generate the short code, but upon publishing it, the shortcode was removed.

My apologies for the confusion. I’ve been working on both my self-hosted WordPress site and my WordPress.com site and it was on the self-hosted site that the new Google Maps was not an issue. I’ve also been researching this as it relates to WordPress.com and IT IS still an issue. I will be researching this though and see what I can find out.

    Hello again salembridgeport!

So this has been a question raised by many and has not yet been resolved. I scoured the web (including WordPress.com) for any references to integrating maps created using Google Maps Engine or Google Maps Engine Lite into WordPress.com and there isn’t a solution yet. I’m sure that you had already figured that out which is why you posted your question here, but I’m hoping that someone else sees this and addresses the issue.

    Again, sorry for misinforming you.

I seriously appreciate all you work on this. I am new to the WordPress platform, and this level of response from devotees is warming and unexpected. I pasted your code into my blog and we are completely moved off our Drupal platform and fully online.

    A true blessing! thanks!

Not a problem at all salem! Best of luck to you!
