Exporting posts to new blog

Just curious. I’m thinking of setting up a new blog with WordPress. If I export some (or all) of my posts to the new blog, will they still remain in the old one? Ie – I don’t lose them, do I?

I’m not certain I’ll do this, or how practical it will be as my new blog will have a different approach.

Will my old ‘poster’ name be replaced by my new ‘poster’ name? Or will I effectively have two? Ie the old one for the old posts, and a new one for new posts?

    Thanks for any advice.

The blog I need help with is cheesewillsetusfree.wordpress.com.

Yes, they will still remain on the old one, but you would then want to set that old blog to private, or delete all the posts you move over to the new blog. If you don’t, then the old blog will be competing with the new blog in search engines, and on top of that, search engines look very suspiciously at duplicate content and will discount the search engine ranking for both sites meaning they will drop way down in the results.

As long as you don’t have duplicate content on the two sites though, you will be fine.

    Many thanks.

My plan was to delete the old blog, but my worry was that if something went wrong when exporting I might lose everything. From what you say I see that’s not something for me to worry about.

Again, thanks for taking the trouble to respond.
