Facebook post to all friends

  1. I linked my blog with my Facebook page but I only want to post it to a specific group of friends not to all my FB friends. How can I achieve this?

The blog I need help with is

  2. Do you see anything here that indicates you can achieve what you want by using Publicize to autopost to your Facebook page?

Are you referring to an official Facebook group? If so see RSS Grafitti

RSS Graffiti periodically checks the RSS/Atom feeds that you specify and posts any new entries it finds to the Facebook Walls that you specify. You can get any feed written on any wall (Facebook Profiles, Fan Pages, Groups, Events and Application Profile Pages). In fact, multiple feeds to multiple walls. You choose the combination.

  3. Thanks for the reply. I checked out the publicize page but I cannot define to what group of people I want to post my blog. Usually in FB you have different groups. But I can't find anything in the settings that allows me to post my blog to a certain group only rather than to all my FB friends. That's not very convenient. Isn't there a setting where this can be sutomized?

  4. customized I mean....

  5. Publicize seems to assume you want your post to get the broadest possible distribution on the service you've connected.

If you want to fine tune how you are sharing on FB (or G+), I would use the Sharing button that appears in each of your posts, if you've enabled Sharing.

  6. Yes, I also have turned on sharing. Nevertheless there's nowhere a setting that can explicitly be turned on for a specific group. However, I don't know how I did it but all of a sudden my posts are only posted to my blog friends. This works especially when posting from the iPhone or iPad rather than from the PC. But that's okay, as long as only those people see the post that should see it. Thank you all for your support.

  7. ...all of a sudden my posts are only posted to my blog friends.

Do you mean by using Publicize or by using the Sharing button? Thanks for letting us know.

  8. Actually I don't know how this happens. When I publish a new post it's automatically posted on FB. I enabled sharing so I linked my FB account with my blog. When the post is published on FB you can change the privacy, I did this once and changed it from all friends to my blog friends only and since then all my posts go to my blog friends only. I hope this helps.

  9. You cannot automate posting to FB and at the same time limit who it posts to.

  10. @rain, so I thought too, but as sandraaparis pointed out FB saves the last group you shared with as the default, until you change it again by posting something else as "Public" or "Friends" then that becomes the new default. It's a FB setting, not WPcom.

FWIW-I just doublechecked my own settings on FB and the last FB post I shared on FB was only with my kids and indeed that is now my default setting for who can see my future posts, so it seems sandraaparis is right. FB saves the last share setting as default.

  11. ;-) glad that you've made the same experience. At long as I can control my posts like this I'm fine :-)

  12. As long as you continue to post on FB only to your "blog friends" group, you should be fine. As I said, FB seems to save the last group you shared to as the default, until you change it by sharing to a different group, such as "Friends" or "Public"., of course, has no control over this.
