    Hi there…
searched the forum and it seems no one has asked this question yet? does anyone have the code for adding a facebook button at the bottom each post? so that people can link to you (not you linking to your own facebook page).
    Thanks!

Am I looking in the wrong place? I can’t find anything for facebook. Thanks sacredpath.

    Oops, sorry.

If you want to use an image you have, or have downloaded: <a href="http://facebookpagelinkhere"><img src="http://imagelinkhere" alt="" title="" /> </a>

If you just want a link as a text string: <a href="http://facebookpagelinkhere">put text here</a>

thanks for your help!! i’ll give that a try.
I just realized as I was trying to do this that it’s actually the Facebook link that I’m missing. I’ve seen other blogs with the facebook button at the bottom of the posts and now can’t find any of them to copy the url.

You can try googling “facebook icon” and see what comes up. Perhaps someone has something cool our there that they created. Or check over at facebook.

On your Facebook profile page, scroll down to the bottom and you’ll find a link to “Create a profile badge” (just above the copyright notice). Click this and follow the instructions and Facebook will give you the code for a badge that you can add in a text widget here on WordPress.

For and example of a Facebook badge, go to The Wolf’s Howl; it’s in the right-hand sidebar, towards the bottom.

Just re-read the OP, and realise I didn’t actually answer the question that was asked. Sorry about that; afraid I don’t know the answer to that one.

Thanks guys. I found what I was looking for at the reuters website. here http://www.reuters.com/article/entertainmentNews/idUSN1258501220071212
(scroll down and click on the facebook button–a popup window appears so you can email your facebook friends, etc.)

I looked in page info and tried to duplicate the part of the link I thought was correct and got this…
    <a href="http://www.facebook.com/shaerer.php?u=http://gyozamonsta.wordpress.com/2007/12/12/call-it-foreshadowing-3-new-portishead-tracks/"><img src="http://gyozamonsta.wordpress.com/files/2007/12/facebook.gif" alt="" title="" /> </a>

so the button appears at the bottom of my post but when clicked, directs you to a facebook page that says that the page has expired.

Anyone who can help…would be much appreciated. Thanks for helping out a newb!

The problem is that they’re using a javascript button. Until we’ve got a good URL, we can’t help you. The one you’re using is not right.

Hi, I’ve got a facebook link but how do I get it onto my page as a widget?

How do you want to put it there? It should be an image or a simple link? If you just require a link, do the following:-

    1. Put a text widget in the sidebar.
    2. In the text widget, type the following code (without the inverted comma’s) :-

    My Facebook Profile

    And you’re done.

Oh great, I can’t find backticks on my keyboard so it turned into the HTML. Do it as mentioned in the second code in the third comment. You’ll need to put that code in a text widget.

If I’m confusing you, I’m sorry I’ll explain again.

How do you want to put it there? It should be an image or a simple link? If you just require a link, do the following:-

    1. Put a text widget in the sidebar.
    2. In the text widget, type the following code:-

    <a href="your facebook url">My Facebook Profile</a>

    3. And you’re done. Give the text widget a heading if you want to.

You can get a facebook profile “image” that shows most of the information that the javascript badge can. I have an entry on this on my site and Collin has one on using the RSS widget for status update available here!

    Hi,

sorry, where I”m at is that I have the ‘badge’ link from facebook. I want to try and put my facebook badge as a widget on the side-bar. How do I do that?

    Instead of a link.

Thanks so much that is really helpful.

One last thing, I’ve got the image there but how to do it so that it links to my facebook profile?

Around the image you have to put the code to make it a link. Ishmeet gave the instructions above:
    2. In the text widget, type the following code:-

    My Facebook Profile
