Featured blogpost not Featured

I just spent hours working on a new blog post, I added the featured image on top and also tagged* the post with featured. Still, it didn’t show up in the featured posts on my front page. Why is that, did I do something wrong? In my theme customizer, I have my Static Front Page set to A static page which has worked all fine until now. The featured posts that are on top are only my old ones.

I’ve now made my post private until I get this issue solved.

Hope someone can help me out, Id appreciate it. <3

The blog I need help with is mettayoga.net.

    @staff,

This topic is a duplicate of a topic in which @tiaganihalkaur, I, and perhaps others engaged in a series of exchanges — 24 replies, according to the Themes forum listing — from 23-25 September. I noticed yesterday or earlier today that the link to this duplicate in the Themes forum was redirected to the topic with the exchange of posts. Now the reverse is happening: both the link to the topic with the responses and the one without any responses are linked to the this page, so all of the 24 replies are presently inaccessible. It’s as if they’ve vanished.

I’m obtaining this same result on the latest Firefox and Google Chrome browsers.

Here is the URL of the topic with 24 replies:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/featured-blogpost-not-featured?replies=24

Clicking on the link to it at the Themes Forum or inserting that URL into the the address bar of a FF or Google Chrome browser redirects to this page.

    Hi there,

Your most recent post, Being, by Nature, is Joy, is showing in the featured content slider just fine for me. Have you checked if clearing your browser cache makes it appear?

I do notice you have posts set to Sticky as well as the featured tag added. Using both of those could cause conflicts, so I’d suggest removing the Sticky option and only using the tag to get the posts in the slider.

Also note that your theme can only display up to 6 posts in the slider.

I have no idea what happened to the missing thread, but as stated previously, our forums software is old and clunky and hacked to pieces to get it to do what we want it to do, so that thread probably slipped through a crack in space-time and is now being drained of all energy in the void between worlds :)

As, I suspect, did my Zebulon thread in the Ideas forum a few days earlier. : )

As I recall the topic was near resolution on the other thread. By the final posts our exchange there, @tiaganihalkaur had been able to get two posts to display in the featured content section that had failed to display previously, and had acknowledged that at least part of the problem might be lag time on the device/browser or app combination used.

I missed that one, but what appears to have happened here is that the OP created a new thread with the exact same title, and the software for some reason assigned the new thread the same URL slug as the old one. I can see the replies from the other thread in the back-end admin, but the thread itself is unreachable with no way to make it visible again.

If you come across more cases of this happening, please let me know.

Don’t worry if you have to send it into the void. I’ve made copies of it for posterity. : )
