Featured Image In Twenty Eleven
I am using the Twenty Eleven theme so that I can have a different featured image on every page of my site. I am using a static page as my home page and another page “Blog” for posts. For some reason I cannot change the featured image on the Blog page. It always displays the same featured image as on the home page.
Can anyone help me with this?
thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is internationalwomensclubisrael.wordpress.com.
I’ve got a few links for you that you might want to look through.
I don’t think the “featured image” thing works on the blog page though. It will work on all single post pages, static pages, and it works on the special “showcase” page.
Thanks for the links thesacredpath. I’ve reviewed them carefully.
I don’t understand why the featured image won’t work on my blog (post) page. According to section 2 in the second link above:
“If you set a featured image (see relevant Support doc) to a post or static page, that image will replace the default one when you view that post or static page.”
That is if you are looking at a single-post page, which is what you get to after clicking on a post title or comment link in the “blog” page, not if you are looking at the blog page that shows the list of recent posts. The blog page will always show the image that is set in at appearance > header.
thank you for the clarification!
You are welcome.
I finally figured out how to get the results I was looking for. From the dashboard, I went to the Header area and uploaded several images as header images. I set one of those images as the featured image for the header of the home page. Then I selected Random for all the photos I uploaded. Now the home page will always use the header I’ve specified, while the header images for all the other pages, including the Blog page, will change randomly.
