Featured Image on Home Page -Twenty Twelve/Minimum Themes

The look I’m trying to achieve is a featured image on the home page with posts (full posts, at least to the more tag, rather than just a list of recent posts) underneath.

I can get an image on the home page by setting up a static home page but no posts (only a list of posts using theRecent Posts Widget) and I can get posts using the standard home page but can not find a way to add a featured image to this version of the home page.

I’m using Twenty Twelve at the moment. Does it support this option. If not then Minimum supports a featured image but I’ve not seen that used with posts on the home page?

The blog I need help with is nickwalchphotography.wordpress.com.

What can be done with Twenty Twelve is stated here in the detailed theme description > http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentytwelve/

    Hi nwalch,

The front page template in Twenty Twelve is does not display a list of posts, unless you add the recent posts widget. Likewise, the large featured image is only available on the front page template.

You could add a sticky post with an image to create a similar effect on the posts page.

With the Minimum theme, the featured area and posts underneath it are achieved using widgets, so it may be easier to create the affect you are looking for.
