Feed on a private blog

I’m new to wordpress, and have been unable to find an answer to this problem.

I have a blog on wordpress.com where the privacy is set to “I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose.” Someone needs access to the info on the blog, but is behind a firewall preventing access to wordpress.com. I hoped to use Google reader to let her see updates, but it does not seem to find feeds when the blog has this security setting. I have Google Reader reading other blogs without the privacy restrictions. Is it possible to access a feed with the privacy set like this? If not, is it possible to set wordpress blogs to email somone each time an update is made?

We don’t have feeds for password protected blogs [1]
as opposed to password protecting individual posts [2]

Unfortunately, as the email based solutions are currently dependent on the feed, there is no help there either.

The answer to your questions is no. Your blog is private. Allowing either to occur would make your blog not be private.

The feed issue was discussed previously here in the forums as feeds were originally allowed. It was pointed out that this made one’s private blog public instead and that anyone could read it.
