My blog is Interrupting the Silence, http://marshmk.wordpress.com.

What is feedburner and is it something I should use? Why? Does it help promote traffic? Does is replace the WordPress.com feed? What does it do that the feed created by my blog does not do? I have read the introduction on the Feedburner site but still do not understand. Thank you.

The blog I need help with is marshmk.wordpress.com.

With feed burner you can offer rich content feed you can
offer email updates to email subscribers and you can track
your RSS and email subscriptions stats.

WordPress.com don’t offer email updates for your latedt
post or stats for many subscribers you have so yes feedburner
    is worth it.

I registered my blog with feedburner but it turned out to be more complicated than I thought, so I wanted to delete and forget about it. But apparently, the only way to find out how to do that is to post on a forum. I posted on the FB general board and had to scroll back two days before finding a single forum question that was answered.

So give thanks for the WordPress forum and know that not all others are as responsive.

I set up an email subscription service to my blog (Whitehall Watch) and have 70-odd people signed up. Everything seemed to be working fine but now when email alerts arrive (I signed myself up on another a/c to keep track) the link in the post headline takes you to this message:

    http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WhitehallWatch/~3/RAmBW9kUdLE/

This is happening to others, so its nothing to do with my email.

I have searched through the Feedburner help and tried everything I can think of but nothing seems to cure this problem – the link to the blog in the footnotes of the email works fine.

    Help please…

Im at http://www.realdelia.com (a wordpress blog).

I signed up for feedburner like 2 months ago and it was working fine (i had email subscriptions sent to myself and my husband just to track it). And then I noticed that as of like 3 weeks ago, it stopped sending me updates. Same with my husband. As I’m about to go “public” with my blog (have been more or less practicing for a month now) I’d really like people to be able to subscribe!

fyi: i also installed an RSS feed and that seems to be working fine.

    any help warmly appreciated.

sorry that i left previous message twice. I just went to feedburner and perused their faq’s. I also made sure that my feed is valid. It is. So why aren’t we getting updates?!?!

Those of you having trouble – did you transfer your accounts to google last month as required? Yes, I know google owns feedburner, but the transfer had to be done.

tranfer your accounts = transfer your feeds to a google account

How do you best use WordPress if you are 66, do not know an RSS from a widget, just learned how to email a year ago, have written a book about the auto industry, and want to promote the messages in that book? By the way, the name of the book is “A Savage Factory” and it is a memoir of working as a supervisor in an auto plant in the 70s when auto plants were a cross between an insane asylum and a battlefield, and the quality of American cars was an international disgrace.

@delialloyd – There were notices at log-in for about 45 days to do it and there is (or was) a faq at feedburner. If you don’t still see a notice to transfer when you log into your fb account, check the fb googlegroup. (Or I suppose a google search would turn it up.) It was a simple process, a few clicks.

yes, well, oddly my feed appeared miraculously today but I think it’s b/c I left a similar msg on google/feedburner support and someone took pity on me. I never got such a prompt (at least I don’t recall it–quite possible I missed it as I’m new to this whole thing) yet my feed does appear to have migrated over to google, not sure how (unless automatically b/c I use gmail). anyway, thank you.
