I have bought CSS editing and i was looking to edit my page using “file Zilla”, but i do not seem to be able to connect. It tells me – “If you do not already have an FTP account on your server, use your cPanel or website administration tool to set one up –“
Can anyone help me please!
The blog I need help with is maxjohnson.co.
There is no ftp access here at wordpress.com
You can edit the CSS in the Themes section.
ok thanks mark. I have managed to get to “Editing CSS” under “Appearances”, then how do i go about making changes to my blog? I have tried changing a few things in the CSS Stylesheet Editor, but they never seem to take effect. I am new to all this as you may have guessed!
If I have a wordpress blog (as opposed to my own domain), can I install themes that are not available through wp-admin. I am trying to install this theme (http://top-wordpress.net/) ‘Angels’ but can’t see it in WP admin?
We cannot add themes at wordpress.COM, we are limited to the themes found in the dashboard under appearance > themes. Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG.
If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade, which will allow you to stylize the themes here, but it does not allow you to change the functionality. Since there is no official support for the CSS upgrade, do not buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of CSS. Before buying the upgrade, you can go to appearance > edit CSS and wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try out changes before you buy the upgrade.
@max, if you are using the CSS preview function, it is somewhat flakey right now. After clicking the preview button wait for the page to load, and then force refresh the page and you should see the changes you have made. Force refresh seems to be working for virtually everyone.
I have used File zilla to upload my website but now I need to change a few pages that I have uploaded.
