Firefox crashing on clicking Image Uploader
-
I went back and forth several times and with Gears active, FF crashes. With Gears disabled, no problems.

Thank You

tsp, you are like genius to think about that. I never found gears to make my browser faster so I uninstalled it a while ago so I didn’t have this problem. Not like any of this is relevant but I wanted to say good catch =D

@sensico, after I had tried and couldn’t get it to fail, I realized that I didn’t have Gears running, and all of a sudden thought that might be the issue and sure enough it was. Funny though Gears and Firefox on my Mac get along just fine with wordpress. Go figure.
Gears seemed to have made a difference on my ThinkPad with XP (which has a slow 1GHz PIII processor and only 512mb of ram), but on my Mac laptop with the core 2 duo, it made little difference. I have it disabled on my Mac, and since I seldom use the ThinkPad, I doubt I’ll re-enable it.

Gears make mine abt 5 times faster. But now I have to disable this for firefox to work??? I am having this problem since today morning here.
No other solution and what is the real cause?
-
Disallow Gears and clear its cached information.
Then restart and all should be good.
The fault here is in Gears not using the correct information. -
I am experiencing the same problem and just googled… when i try upload an image it crashes firefox :/

Still having firefox crash every time I try and upload a pic – have cleared cache and restarted a million times. Also cannot upload images with chrome – pic just turns out to be a broken image even though the image is there. Have tried this with several different pictures.
Help?

Hmm.. disabling gears didn’t work for me either. I’ll try logging out, and clearing stuff… Will let you know if I have any success Lesley.

If FF is still crashing after disabling gears, go to tools > addons and uninstall it. One person reported that the problem would not go away till they uninstalled it. And if that does not work, then temporarily switch to another browser such as IE, Chrome or Safari till this gets cleared up.
Brian (staff) says they are working on a fix.

I confirm, disabling Gears on FF 3.0.10 fixes the problem of FF crashing simply by pressing the square box image upload button.
nice find. thanks!

confirm on this, too. FF 3.0.10 chrashes when clicking on image uploding icon in edit post/page screen disappeared when uninstalling Gears. Thanks for this all of you!
