Just on a sidenote [I can’t help you with the problem as I know nothing about CSS]: I like what you’ve done in changing the column width. It looks really good. :)

Sorry, I was busy cleaning up your multi posts. Please don’t do that again.

If you have the css upgrade, you have to place the image within the CSS file and not use the uploader. It has to do with the order of the css loading.

Thank you for the kind response and I’m sorry for my multi post behavior but since I have payed for a service with no additional information on header information I saw no other way of getting help.

You say: you have to place the image within the CSS file and not use the uploader

Could you please tell me how to do that?

    Thanks again.

There is no staff support for css customization of themes. The only support comes from fellow bloggers who volunteer it and there are obviously none available at this time. I’m afraid you will have to wait patiently until one comes onto the forum and answers your question.

That is I’m afraid not acceptable since I have paid for a service where there wasn’t a clear warning about the loosing of the Fjord header.
    Thanks for clarification anyway.

If I knew how to help you I would but I don’t.
I can only direct you to the css customization forum and the and the FAQs

    This is all I know.
CSS customization can be used to improve on any existing theme; you can define your own classes for use in posts; you can select the Sandbox theme and build on one of the Minimalist layouts or, opt for no stylesheet and do it all yourself. If you feel you are up to the challenge of customizing a theme then these link, link, link will be helpful.

Although there is a forum and other bloggers may volunteer to help you if needs be, there is no staff support for css customization. There are also css resources that you can access listed in the FAQs blog.

The 15$ you pay to upgrade a wordpress.com blog enables you to to alter the appearance of your theme and but not the underlying php code. Purchasing the upgrade entitles you to customize css on one blog for one year.

You need to take that up with staff I’m afraid. We have no control over the issue as we’re but volenteers here in the forums.

Timethief means that staff is not going to answer basic CSS designing questions or teach you CSS. If there’s an issue, they will respond to it. (At least I hope they do) The CSS option is not unsupported.

They actually do warn you that you should have a basic understanding of CSS.

You’re quite right. I didn’t express that clearly: The way I should have expressed this is:

The css upgrade is not recommended to bloggers who do not have css cutomization experience. Although there is a forum and other bloggers may volunteer to help you if needs be, there is no staff support for learning css customization.

    Hé guys,
don’t get me wrong. I do appreciate your work here. and I do get your arguments. The thing is, no one of you is open to the fact that the problem of the header disappearing is a wordpress based problem. The fact is that I did alter the css code in an existing sheet (fjord) by only altering the width of a column (from 270 to 300). In saving the new sheet, the header was gone.

So “to answer basic CSS designing questions or teach you CSS” is not what I’m looking for since I have bought credits to just do that, nothing more. WordPress shoul be aware that I and appaerently others, and potential clients could encounter the same problem and issue a warning.

“The css upgrade is not recommended to bloggers who do not have css cutomization experience. Although there is a forum and other bloggers may volunteer to help you if needs be, there is no staff support for learning css customization.”

Again, no need fos this. My question is not a question for support but for restoration.

And before I forget, the staff did contact me to offer support. So that should work out fine. Thanks for your time.

I do apologize for misunderstanding you. I did not comprehend that you were reporting a technical problem (request for restoration) that required staff assistance to remedy it. In retrospect I should have just said – please send in a feedback to staff as only they have backend access to blogs.

Edit: Oh dear … I just looked at your blog and the header is missing :(

I feel for you. I had to do a pawn loan against mine and the ipod to pay the rent this past month.
