Follow box obscuring text on android phone
Apologies if this is a repeat, I have searched and couldn’t find a similar question.
When I read wordpress sites on my android phone, using the opera mini browser, the follow box obscures the first paragraph of the text.
There is nothing I can click to close it or move it and even signing up to follow posts doesn’t remove it. Is this a bug and can it be fixed or do I need to change the settings on my phone?
The blog I need help with is 10mh.net.
Is this with the full theme, or is this with the mobile theme active (appearance > mobile)?
I’ll tag this thread to have it moved to the themes forum where the theme team will hopefully see it shortly and respond.
Thanks! It seems to be when looking at the normal browser page on the phone’s browser, so not with the mobile theme active. Hope it can be fixed!
I am seeing this also. There seem to be multiple issues with wordpress.com sites and the Android version of Opera Mini which has the user-agent: Opera/9.80 (Android; Opera Mini/6.5.27049/26.1153; U; en) Presto/2.8.119 Version/10.54
1) On sites with the mobile theme enabled, Opera Mini 6.5.1 for Android is not recognised as a mobile browser and gets the desktop theme with no option to switch to mobile in the footer.
2) A large black “Follow..” popup blocks the first paragraph of the first post. There doesn’t seem to be anyway to dismiss the popup.
3) With the default “Bueno” theme the page is clipped on the left hiding the post date.
Opera Mini 6.5.1 on Symbian and Opera Mini 6.5 for Java ME are recognised as mobile browsers and are served the minileven theme which doesn’t have these issues.
We are aware that Opera Mini for Android has some compatibility issues with Minileven. We will let you know when we have a fix for this.
Does the follow box close if you click on the “Follow” label (which is just above the rest of the box)?
Tapping the Follow label does not dismiss the box
Thanks for letting me know. I will report this to our team as well. As soon as I have an update, I’ll follow-up on this thread.
Opera Mini 6.5.1. should now be properly recognized as a mobile browser and receive the mobile theme (Minileven). If you are not using the mobile theme and are still seeing the follow box, I’ll let you know when we have a fix for that.
Please let us know if you run into any other issues.
That was quick! I’ve confirmed it’s working (sites using the mobile theme option now get a working minileven theme in Opera mini for Android). Thanks.
That’s great, thanks for fixing it!
