    I’m very new to editing css, I have no knowledge of what I’m doing but I’m learning as I go. Right now Im trying to change the font size, color and style on my theme and for some reason the css coding looks a little different to me. Can someone please help?

    The blog I need help with is prototypemama.wordpress.com.

    Which sections do you want to change? Most likely there are several places that the fonts will have to be changed depending on your theme?

    #563069

    Also, what is the URL of the blog you are talking about? The one linked to your username has been deleted.

    Ah, I see in the tags you are using depo masthead.

    HI I’m new to wordpress too and trying to set up a site that people with learning disabilities will be able to use. Does anyone know of a theme that gives a nice clean look that allows for accessibility issues. I found a nice font for pages and posts but the titles, tags etc need to be larger and darker.

    This is a CSS editing thread. Please use this Themes Showcase to make your own theme selection > http://theme.wordpress.com/

    If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.

    Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.

    If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

    If you do purchase the upgrade be sure to read this article before starting your editing > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

    @prototype10, again, WHAT fonts are you wanting to change the size, color and style on? I can probably give you three places and none of them would be where you want to change stuff. We need more information from you.

    @prototype10
    Thanks for the link to http://prototypemama.wordpress.com/ Please be aware that we have only 2 Volunteers who assist with CSS editing when they can do so. While you are waiting for them do beaware that before one or the other can even commence helping you you will have to provide answers to TSP’s question above.

    Which sections do you want to change?

    It will be a timesaver for you and for the Volunteer who does help you if you provide an answer before they enter this thread.

    I’m sorry… I would like to change the post titles and my widget headers (color, size and font). As well as change the rollover color. I don’t like all the gray at the bottom of my page and really want to change where all the red is to dark magenta. Does that make sense? Thanks so much to both of you for your help.

    Post titles:

    #home h2 a:link, #home h2 a:visited {
    color: #990000;
    }

    Post titles rollover (hover):

    #home h2 a:hover {
    color: #CC0000;
    }

    Standard widget titles (non-link):

    #sidebar h2, #sidebar h3 {
    color: #333333;
    }

    Widget titles (linked):

    #sidebar a:link, #sidebar a:visited {
    color: #333333;
    }

    Widget titles rollover (hover) color:

    #sidebar a:hover, #sidebar a:active {
    color: #CC0000;
    }

    I’m also trying to make my font larger — just the font in the post text. I’m using the Vigilance theme, and I’ve changed the font using typekits. My URL is http://www.oldsoulhandmade.com. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

    @carrierackey do you have the CSS upgrade?

    Yes. I actually managed to change the font size last night using this code I found:

    h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6,pre,code,p,caption,th,td {
    font-size:1em;
    }

    But now I’d like to change the font color on my home page and my about page. I’ve been fiddling and searching, but no luck.
    Thanks again.

    First thing you should do is to go to settings > reading and reduce the number of posts to show on a page to perhaps 3. It took over 3 minutes for your main page to load on my wireless internet connection. Slow loading pages will get you whacked by the search engines and also turn visitors off. A good number of people are still on 1.5mbps or slower internet connections. To change the font color for the post and page content only, use the following, but you will have to remove the color you have applied in the about page before it will take effect:

    .entry {color:#333333; }

    Thanks for the tip on the number of posts – I had no idea. Speaking of no idea, how do I remove the color I applied to the about page text? I realize the absurdity of that question, but I seriously don’t remember what I did!

    Thanks!

    You are welcome.

    Open the about page in the editor, select all the text in the page and then use the “remove formatting” icon on the lower toolbar.
