Font Size Issue with Tags in Widget

  1. When adding tags to my posts, sometime after hitting "update" the font of some tags appear larger than the rest of the font in the widget. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I'm typing in the words myself (not copy and paste from Word etc.) and the only way I've been able to fix the problem is to delete the tag and insert them again to each post (which can be extremely time consuming, and even then the problem comes back.

  2. This is not a font size issue. this is how Tag clouds work. It's normal behavior. The tags become larger in size as you assign them to more posts. Example: Animal, Computer, Fix have more posts assigned to them than "600" does.
    See here >

  3. This may be a better way to explain. The font size of any tag in the tag cloud represents the number of items to which a tag has been applied. The size reflects each tag's popularity in terms of the number of posts you have assigned that tag to.

  4. Awww! That explains A LOT! Thank you! You've done it again, timethief. :)

Maybe it's just me, but the multi-sized font looks, aesthetically, a little goofy. Should I just remove the wiget, or is it actually handy for a reader to have the tags there as well as for creating more traffic?

  5. To me it's butt UGLY! I don't use it. I use a Categories cloud widget and it allows us to adjust the size ratio of the font display.

I use Categories for broad subject groupings and I use tags as narrower descriptors, if you know what I mean. If you don't then I'll plug my blog at this point ... lol :D

  6. Agree with timethief (and "Cloud" is almost a misnomer: a real tag cloud is a group of tags in motion).

Another thing in favor of the Categories or Category Cloud widgets is that they can display an unlimited number of categories while the Tag Cloud is limited to the 45 most used tags.

  7. Excellent! Thanks so much for the info. Tag Cloud shall be no more.

While I have your attention, looking at my blog, would you have any further advice in regards to widgets, categories, tags etc.? I'm obviously new at this so any advice from the experts would be greatly appreciated. :)
