FYI -- Domain (GoDaddy) Outage

  1. For anyone who has a domain registered with GoDaddy or who may use their DNS or mail services:

According to many customers, sites hosted by major web host and domain registrar GoDaddy are down. According to the official GoDaddy Twitter account the company is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it. Update: customers are complaining that GoDaddy hosted e-mail accounts are down as well, along with GoDaddy phone service and all sites using GoDaddy’s DNS service.

Provided for information to members and Volunteers is case inquiries start hitting this board.

  2. Thanks - I was just trying to chase down a domain issue with a name that is registered with Godaddy - was wondering about the

Firefox can't find the server at

  3. Just to clarify, this does not affect domains registered through, but it does affect domains registered through GoDaddy and mapped to if you're still using GoDaddy's DNS.

  4. It looks like some of godaddy is back up but not all of it - and there are a bunch of mad folks in the thread at Tech crunch - I think some of them have already got the pitchforks out

  5. The outage may be affecting out ability to sell domains (we partner with a GoDaddy reseller), so we have disabled the domain interface for now. We'll bring back everything at Store -> Domains once the issue has passed.

  6. I am have my domain showing up and it doesn't say I need to update my DNS anymore, but my website is still not showing up. Is this a problem with the godaddy issues or am I not doing something correctly?

  7. Also, my domains keep getting deleted from my blog list... I don't understaaand.

  8. disregard that last statement

  9. FYI for anyone who wants to know what happened and who is responsible, I wrote it up for the Daily Dot today

  10. We have brought back the domain controls and registration/renewal/mapping interface at Store -> Domains.

Most GoDaddy-registered domains appear to be properly resolving now too, so the issue may be close to resolution.

  11. The overall issue appears to be over with now.

If you have a domain name registered with GoDaddy that is still not properly resolving, please contact them.
