Gallery layout/lightbox questions

Hey guys, I really want to make the switch over to wordpress though I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction/ answer some of my questions before I make the plunge in.

First off it is very important to me that I am able to organize my galleries in custom ways, the main template that I am going for is to have my main media (image/video/embed) on top at 100% and then two media files below at 50% and so on in a pyramid fashion. I would also like to be able to alter this template in some cases. For example having the top media file at 100% and then 2 rows of 33% media files below it.

here is a link to an image showing you my basic theme layout, I want to point out that I zoomed out on the page to show you the full structure of what I would like the gallery to look like.

I will also want to be able to open the pyramid gallery in one lightbox, I was also wondering if I will be able to have mixed media open the same light box?

I also plan on purchasing a template, “salient” from and was wondering if there would be any conflict with using a custom payed template. I know some places pretty much lock you in to a certain templates style once you pick it.

Thanks for dealing with all of my questions in advance, sorry if any of them are silly. I am pretty illiterate when it come to web building and knowing what is possible and not.
