Do I need to do anything about this for anyone who’d given their email address to the website to receive notification of new blog posts? I’ve now removed that option from my blog page. Thanks!

The blog I need help with is fillmyfacecentral.wordpress.com.

    Hi fillmyfacecentral,

Do I need to do anything about this for anyone who’d given their email address to the website to receive notification of new blog posts?

No, subscriptions on WordPress.com are opt-in only. This means people who have subscribed to receive email updates for fillmyfacecentral.wordpress.com have already agreed to receive them.

I’ve now removed that option from my blog page.

While you have removed the Follow Blog Widget, visitors can still subscribe via email using the action bar. So removing the widget doesn’t mean people can’t subscribe at all — they just can’t subscribe using that particular widget.

Thanks so much! So is it an issue that I’ve removed it?

@fillmyfacecentral you’re welcome to leave it off or add it back as you’d like. Our documents talk about what we’ve done to make our tools compliant, so you’ll just want to be sure you’re also taking care to follow the rest of GDPR.

This part of their infographic was helpful, I thought:

    Cheers!

Thanks for your help and sending the link. My blog is just about food and I don’t have a business or anything associated to it. I also have very minimal followers haha!

You’re welcome! And really there’s no reason to be alarmed if you don’t store or use any personal information from your site’s visitors.
