The CSS editing upgrade is not recommended to those who are not experienced with CSS editing, as there is no Staff support for learning CSS editing. You are expected to be able to work independently so if you don’t have experience and can’t do that maybe you ought to ask for a refund.

Simpla is not a custom header theme. When I look at its CSS, I see the description: “Can’t get much more minimal than this two-column design and its accents.”
I don’t think that there is anything you could do, even with the CSS upgrade, to give it a custom header. There is at least one CSS yoga master who sometimes chips in here who may know of a contortion.
But I might look for a theme that has a custom header image, but is otherwise clean: Cutline springs to mind.

@superjanne
These are the themes that you can already upload custom header images into – no CSS editing upgrade required. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/ -
I’m here today… real quick though.
To add an image to the header in Simpla, just do this:
#header {background: #fff url(URL-TO-YOUR-IMAGE) 0 0 no-repeat;
That’s it.

You just write the height and width properties, like this:
#header { background: #fff url(URL-TO-YOUR-IMAGE) 0 0 no-repeat; height: 300px; width: 650px;
But is it possible to get the sides to be tabbed navigationmeny also?
I’m sorry but I don’t quite understand what you mean… would you please rephrase your question?

I see, you meant a menu bar.
As far as I know, the theme you’re using does not support a menu bar… If you want a menu bar below your header, then you could replicate Simpla using Sandbox. However, if you don’t know enough CSS to port Simpla to Sandbox… my advise to you is to stick to what you currently have.
