    Hi Everyone,

I have been trying to build a home page for my blog. I would like the design to mimic that of the Sela theme demo. After following the instructions regarding that demo, I am still having trouble with the following…

    1. Getting the main image to be as big as the one shown in the demo
    2. Adding a white text box over top of the main image to write my tag line as shown in the demo
    3. Adding image based widgets. I have tried copying the URLS of images as per the instructions and creating pages that these widgets will be linked to. But there is no space in the add widget area in the customize feature that lets me add the URL. In addition, when I try to add widgets in the customize feature there is a message on the top that reads…

Your theme has 4 other widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t display them.

You can navigate to other pages on your site while using the Customizer to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages.

I don’t understand why it says this if the Sela theme demo has these widgets on it’s static page and there are instructions on how to add them. Please HELP! Thank you!

The blog I need help with is everydayfitgirl.wordpress.com.

Every theme has a detailed theme description page. This one is at https://wordpress.com/theme/sela and that’s where set up instructions for it and the live demo site link is found.

All support docs are at https://en.support.wordpress.com/ where we have a search box as the most prominent feature on the page.

    1. Getting the main image to be as big as the one shown in the demo

You have to upload images of the correct dimensions. The featured image on the front page and on pages works best with images at least 1180 wide.
Featured Images for posts should be at least 820 wide by 312.

    Hi there,

Of what site are you speaking? http://everydayfitgirl.wordpress.com/ has the retired Ecto theme active.

You have the front page on that site set to the Full Width template. To have it look and behave like the demo page you need to set the front page to the Front Page template.

Edit the page and click on Page Attributes in the page settings. You can change the template there.

You can find additional instructions here:
