Getting rid of comment form on static home page
cowichansweaters.wordpress.com I am using the theme Chateau. There is a comment form on the static front page that I do not want. I will only want comments on the blog page.
In the past I have been able to go to screen options, show comments and turn it off. This theme does not have that capability. Am I missing something or do I have to go find a new theme? Too bad, as I like this one.

Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
We can also overide the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any post or page.
When I have had difficulty closing comments I found that I had to uncheck the box for “sharing” at the bottom of the page. Then the comment boxes disappeared. Would you like to try that?
I disabled sharing and I changed discussion settings, with no luck. However I figured it out! I had disabled discussion in the screen options on the top of the page. Once I enabled it, the Allow Comments tick box appears on the bottom of the page. I unticked it and voila! Comment box gone!
Thanks for your help! Sometimes just talking a problem through makes the solution easy to figure out.
I’m so glad you persisted and worked this out. Good on you! Thanks for sharing how you succeeded so I can remember that for the next member who needs help.
Best wishes with your blog and your business. :)
P.S. I’m a gulf islander who loves your sweaters. I’ve been wearing these sweaters since I was a toddler. :)
