Gigya used to display EveryTrail maps
I have a wordpress.com blog, and have been blogging on my cycle trips for two years now. I have used gigya to post flash versions of my routes from the EveryTrail site, as explained here.
An example of a post from me with such a map is here. Just today, I noticed that the flash version of the map I embedded with gigya is no longer displayed. Does anyone know what has happened? Is this way of embedding EveryTrail maps with gigya no longer possible?
Thanks for your help!
The blog I need help with is arctic-cycler.com.
There is no Staff support for the gigya workaround. Please be clear about that.
I guess something must have changed such that it no longer works, as all my old posts no longer show the maps. Has the gigya workaround been newly disabled? If this is the case, I will write the blog entries differently.
Thanks for your help.
WordPress.com has never supported this workaround. If something has changed in the WordPress core code then you are suffering the consequences of the change and I’m sorry but I can’t help you.
OK. Thanks for the info. I guess I will just do screenshots of the map, and link to the EveryTrail site where my route can be viewed.
Shame that this has happened, but, there’s more than one way to skin a cat..
You could post to http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/gigya-shortcode-3-widgets/ and see if Panos (justpi) can help you.
Thanks again for the tip. Indeed, I see that he is an expert. It seems, though, that he has disabled comments to his posts, and his last post was in June last year.
I appreciate your help in this! Have a good evening!!
Is your Flash up-to-date? I just looked at the post you linked to using Chrome 33 and here is what I see: https://cloudup.com/caUguj8HO4Z
Hi Jennifer. That seems to be the problem. I can see the flash map when I use Firefox. I updated the flash player, but, for some reason, still can’t see the map when I view it from Safari. Anyway, it seems the problem is in my local setups. I’ll work on that.. Thanks for the tip!!! :-)
Hooray! for justjennifer.
Yes. Hooray for justjennifer.
I found the culprit on my macbook with Safari. I disabled Adblock, and can now see the flash maps on my blog again. That solves the problem for now. Hopefully I can reactivate Adblock once they update their beta version..
