I am trying to move from .com to .org so I can upload a theme and use plugins etc.
I spent half an hour on the phone to GoDaddy and they sold me website hosting for my existing site with wordpress.com
But my site is still with wordpress.com (When I go to ‘themes’ I am still not given the option to ‘install themes’ which is ultimately what I am trying to achieve).
What is the stage I have missed out?
Have GoDaddy sold me the wrong thing?
How do I take the next step for transferring? My domain is with wordpress.com so I can’t change any DNS settings on GoDaddy…
I am VERY confused!
The blog I need help with is liverpoolrugbyrefs.com.
You’ll need to follow the steps outlined at the link below:
Please do let me know if you need any further help.
Thanks for this. I have changed the name servers so they now point to GoDaddy but when I go to the site’s dashboard > appearance > themes I am still not given the option to ‘install themes’ which is what I am ultimately trying to achieve!
Will this happen eventually? Do I need to do anything else?
I really want to install my new theme and get started on the site!!
Do not sign in on your custom domain. It isn’t quite working yet, the DNS takes awhile to propagate. That just dumps you back to the WP.com blog right now.
You have a GoDaddy log-in. Use it. That will get you to the GoDaddy dashboard and from there you should see Install Themes etc.
thank you thank you thank you!!! :)
