My goodreads widget is not updating the display with current additions. It still shows the first 6 books I added. Is this supposed to be like this? I kind of assumed that it would update.
The blog I need help with is twicecookedhalfbaked.com.
It looks like you’ve configured the GoodReads widget to show your Currently Reading shelf. Any time you make changes at GoodReads to that shelf, the change should show up automatically in your handy-dandy new sidebar widget. Is it possible the updates you’ve made in GoodReads are to a different shelf?
I know, but it isn’t updating. I add books weekly and it is still showing the same original 6 books I entered on Goodreads. I can’t figure out how to make it update.
If the new books that you’re adding are to the same bookshelf as you set up in the widget then it should be updating. Could you try removing and re-adding the widget to see if it starts updating? Please let me know if this doesn’t resolve the problem.
OK, I did that and it still shows the exact same set of books. I have even checked on the Goodreads side and none of those books are listed under currently reading. I am out of ideas.
I’m so sorry it’s taken a while for us to get back to you. Our department has been mostly closed over the last few days.
I’ve been digging in to your Goodreads widget, and it turns out that according to your public profile, those 6 books are the only ones which are in your Currently Reading shelf. You can see that here:
I also see you’ve not added any books since 2012. Is it possible that you’ve changed accounts? To verify, you can click in the upper left hand corner of your GoodReads account and click on your profile picture, and then verify that the number there matches this one:
If not, you can change the number in your GoodReads widget!
