Google ads showing up on my blog
Since when do we have to have Google ads on our WordPress blogs??? When I stay logged in they are not visible to me, so I was unaware of them being there until a friend mentioned it. There is a box with four Google ads immediately after the Share button between the day’s post and its comments that visitors see. Do I have any control over them… i.e., can I get rid of them?
The blog I need help with is careann.wordpress.com.
Since about 2006. http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2006/09/06/on-ads/

You can remove all ads from appearing on your blog with the No Ads upgrade
Just be aware that ads are shown on your blog on a relatively infrequent basis. If you search on the tag “google ads” you can see some of the previous discussions on this topic. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/google-ads
Thanks for the info, Jennifer. I started my blog in 2008 and this is the first time I’ve had someone comment on an ad, so apparently they aren’t too obtrusive. I just don’t like it to seem as if I endorse a particular product or service.
Google Adwords are a form of contextually based advertising. The Google ads occasionally displayed on your blog will be related to the keywords found in the text in your posts.
Some people have put up a disclaimer on their blog to gently notify their visitors that advertising they may see is not blogger initiated. And if you or one of your readers ever comes across an inappropriate ad (sometimes that contextual based thing that timethief mentioned can return some oddities), you can contact support directly with the information.
I purchsed the no ads upgrade but the google ads still keep coming back at random. I am going to contact support but they are closed today…..
