Google penalising WordPress blogs?
I’ve been blogging for almost two years now, and have only recently realised something quite odd. It appears that Google is down-ranking my blog.
The main focus of my blog is restaurant reviews, and there are quite a few I have posted for cafes that no one else has ever reviewed online.
An example is one of my posts titled ‘Burger challenge at Red Jaffa’. I think you’d agree that this is a fairly unique title.
When searching for the string ‘red jaffa burger’, my blog doesn’t appear in the first 10 pages of Google results (I didn’t bother looking beyond there).
The strange thing is that the exact same search on Bing brings it up as the very first search result!
The same result occurs when searching for numerous other combinations as well (for other posts on my blog), so it isn’t just that blog post that is affected.
Is this an example of Google deliberately ranking WordPress blogs low, as Google own Blogger and hence it may not want WordPress results rising to the top? Or am I being paranoid and there is something more obvious/simple at play here??
(FYI, I have gone through the blog claim process for both Bing and Google, so I don’t believe that is the difference)
Any assistance or comment would be much appreciated.
The blog I need help with is twoclownstripping.com.
I don’t normally like to bump a topic, but I’d really like to get an objective/informed opinion on this. Thoughts?
