Google rich tagging for images

I’m trying to get images from my articles to appear in Google search results.

I am using Google’s Data Highlighter on their Webmaster Tools to do this. I mark up the articles and then looked at them in Preview, and it does indeed appear to properly pull out the data – for instance, there’s a section for the “image”, and sure enough it’s got the URL for the image I want.

However, that image never appears in Google. I made other rich-data entries as well, for instance, I added Authorship. This caused the image from my G+ page to appear in search results, which implies that *something* is working. However, Google recently removed this feature (last week or so), and now I’m back to having no images again.

Has anyone out there got images to flow through to Google results properly?

The blog I need help with is matter2energy.wordpress.com.

That’s interesting. Google image search used to be one of my biggest referrers, but not in quite a few months. I wonder if this is all related. Sorry I can’t be more help.
