Google Sheet / Embed / Make Copy

    I’m looking to do the following:

    – 1) embed a Google Sheet
    – 2) allow users to edit this embedded Google Sheet
    – 3) ensure that the original data is not changed or deleted. This can be done in a traditional Google Sheet by replacing ‘edit’ with ‘copy’ in the URL. This then forced the user to ‘make copy’.

    Does anyone know if this is possible to achieve all three with word press?

    You failed to post the URL starting with https:// of the site but unless it’s a site hosted by WordPress.COM you are posting to the wrong support forum.

    To save time you can type the actual URL of the site you are referring to into to determine who hosts the site so you know where to post for support.

    WordPress.COM hosted sites and WordPress.ORG software installs on paid hosting and local installs have different logins and different support documentation.

    We provide support only for WordPress.COM hosted sites on our servers and your site may not be among them. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and you can read the differences here

    I’ve not created the website yet.
    Before I do, I wanted to know if this functionality is possible?



    I do not use Google docs but we do have a support doc at that may answer your questions.

    Hi there,

    All we offer is the ability to embed the sheet on your site, and the embedded version of the sheet on your site cannot be edited at all but is read-only. This is not a limitation on our end, but is part of how publishing a Google Sheet to any website works.

    The actual sheet will still be hosted on Google’s systems, and someone will have to access it there via the shared document link in order to edit it. So what changes can be made and by whom entirely depends on the permissions you set in Google Sheets itself.

    When you publish the sheet you’ll be able to select a setting that any changes to the sheet itself should automatically cause the embedded version to update.
